Showing Painted Desert Sheep |
Several United Horned Hair Sheep Association Members have begun to show their Painted Desert Sheep. It is hard to find shows that do accept them since they are a hair breed instead of the typical wool breed that is normally seen at sheep shows. Most shows are geared toward the 'wool' breeds of sheep. Or geared more toward 4-H with a limit on the age of the exhibitor. But the Open Shows are beginning to pop up around the country allowing 'hair' breeds of sheep to participate, and also allowing adults to be able to show their sheep. |
A few select shows are for the Hair Breeds Only, so the 'hair' breeds and 'wool' breeds do not have to compete against each other. These are ideal shows to compete in with the Painted Desert Sheep Breed. Check around your area to see if there are shows that have classes, or are willing to make classes for the Painted Desert Sheep. Another option if you can not find local shows that allow the Painted Desert Sheep contact the UHHSA - UNITED HORNED HAIR SHEEP SOCIETY (click to email) to see if they are aware of any shows in your area. |
We would love to see you at the Shows! |
Thanks to all UHHSA members and all others that submitted pictures and information for this page. |
